Is it okay for a person who has astigmatism use nontoric colored contact lens?
Question: I have astigmatism and I'm planning on buying a lenses but the store doesn't have toric colored lenses
so can i buy non toric even if i have astigmatism? i really like to buy colored ones.
HELP!
Answer: I suggest that you should consult your optometrist as you need a prescription in order to purchase coloured contact lenses (in the UK). There is nothing to stop you buying coloured contact lenses as long as your optometrist is happy to give you a prescription for them.
There are a few things that you need to bear in mind. (1) You cannot expect the same standard of vision that you get with toric lenses as coloured contact lenses do not correct your astigmatism. (2) Coloured contact lenses usually come within the prescription range of Power +6.00 to -6.00. (3) They are quite expensive. There are monthly coloured lenses, and they are reasonably priced. However, I would personally recommend you to go for daily coloured lenses for occasional use only and keep your toric lenses for everyday use.
Your optometrist will give you (or order) some trial contact lenses, so you can try them for 5 days or so. You will be only allowed to purchase coloured contact lenses if you and your optometrist are both happy with the lenses after the trial period (Your optometrist may ask you to come back for a check-up at the end of the trial period).
Hope this helps.

Where to get toric circle lenses?
Question: I have astigmatism in both eyes, and "unusually large eyes," according to the optometrist. However, I'm going to cosplay Chrome Dokuro in a little over a month, and I'd like to have circle lenses for this! I'm going into the eye doc tomorrow to find out what all I need to know as for the prescription and width and all that, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any site that offers Toric circle lenses and is willing to send two different colors in one order? Below $30 would be ideal! Thanks!
Answer: On the subject of colored contact lenses……….
Also, in the United States, Canada, and in the UK, it is AGAINST THE LAW to
sell ANY CONTACT LENSES (that includes colored, costume, etc) without going through your local eye doctor. AGAIN, it is the law.
You can not buy any contact lenses without a prescription from an eye care specialist
or a certified optometrist.
AGAIN, IT IS THE LAW!!!!
Contact lenses ARE NOT a one size fits all. If you buy from a place on
internet or a place at a flea market or a fashion store you are asking
for SERIOUS trouble with your eyesight.
WORD of ADVICE…..EXTREMELY VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!
DO NOT BUY any COLORED or any COSTUME CONTACT LENSES online………
Or ANY PLACE that is NOT A CERTIFIED FDA approved place that sells eye-wear
like glasses or contact lenses.
PERIOD!!!!!!!!
ONLY your "local eye" doctor knows what is the safest place online to
get ANY contact lenses. Even colored ones.
The problem is contact lenses are NOT A ONE SIZE FITS ALL…
The QUALITY of any online contact lens company from a website or
any internet places HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE…..UNLESS through
your local eye doctor.
AND there is NO SUCH THING as a safe website for buying
contact lenses online…UNLESS through a certified optometrist.
Also, in the United States and in the UK, it is AGAINST THE LAW to
sell ANY CONTACT LENSES (that includes colored, costume, etc) without going through your local eye doctor. AGAIN, it is the law.
You BEST and SAFEST option is to go to your local eye doctor
that deals with contact lenses and he can do
an eye exam to get the correct sized contact lenses fitted for your eyes.
REPEAT -
Contact lenses are NOT A ONE SIZE FITS ALL.
Again, you have to go to your local eye doctor. Your eye doctor
knows which websites are FDA approved.
There are optometrists that can get these "colored contact lenses" for you.
In my local city I see eye doctors having signs in their windows for
these colored or costume contact lenses around Halloween time. (I guess
they want to make a few extra dollars during Halloween).
You just have to call around to the eye doctors and ask
about getting these ones.
These will cost more going through an eye doctor.
BUT THIS is the safest route.
IF You buy any of these online, you are asking for trouble. Like
having a CORNEA TRANSPLANT or spending time in the local hospital
in the optic eye ward.
In the United States it is illegal to get contact lenses of any type without
going through a certified eye doctor.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE EVEN THINK
of BUYING any TYPE of CONTACT LENS ONLINE.
UNLESS THROUGH an OPTOMETRIST or your LOCAL EYE DOCTOR.

How much would LASIK eye surgery cost for me?
Question: I'm 15 and I currently wear Toric Contact lense, meaning I have an astigmatism. My contacts cost between $550 – $600 a year. Would it be best for me just to get LASIK?
Also I live in south Florida, any well know LASIK surgeons down here?
Answer: Im not in the US, Im in the UK, but my Lasik cost me £4000 including the interest for finance. My prescription was quite high and I had an astigmatism too but it was well worth it. It's great to be free of glasses and contacts. Contact lenses are not worth it in the long term.

Where to get contacts online for high astigmatism?
Question: My left eye has astigmatism and I can't find contact lenses online that have my prescription. So, my cylinder is -3.00 and the highest I've seen is -2.5 so I don't know where to go to get contacts? Also, my axis is 176. Contacts only have 170 and 180 so do I round up or is that bad? Thanks.
@footprintz my optician told me that he would get me a contacts prescription? that's what I asked for…did he just give me a glasses prescription?
Answer: You have a prescription for glasses…NOT for contacts.
There is no possible way you can order toric lenses for astigmatism on your own and expect them to work.
If you are in the US or the UK , you can't order ANY contacts online without a proper prescription for them anyway.
You need a proper fitting for contacts at your optometrist or optician to determine exactly what you need and which brand will work for you. You can't do that on your own.
EDIT*****
Yep…they gave you a glasses prescription. If you didn't go through a whole fitting procedure with them…there isn't a contact prescription available. A contacts prescription would also have the brand written on it that is prescribed as well as the proper powers.
