Weekly lenses

Can you wear two weekly contact lenses for more time?

Question: I have had to give up work so don't wear my lenses every day. They are two weekly ones so can I wear them for longer as I'm spending a lot and not using them. Also I pay monthly by DD, is there a cheaper way of getting my contact lenses?

Answer: no no no dont listen to these people! they are called two weekly lenses for a reason! Only wear them for two weeks! You are prone to all sorts of eye infections if you wear them longer. These people who wear them longer are risking one of the most important things they have – their eyes! You can end up getting conjuctivitis, as well as corneal abrasions if too much dirt gets on them.
To avoid the situation you are in I would recomend trying daily contact lenses. These can be bought in packs of 10,20 or 30 over direct debit. Or you can pop into the opticians and buy them over the counter. This means you can just wear them for the days you need them without risking the health of your eyes. It might save you a bit of money too!

Are daily contact lenses cheaper quality than monthly/weekly contact lenses?

Question: I'm thinking about getting daily contact lenses. Probably the Acuvue 1 Day Moist.

I'm just curious, but are the daily contacts cheaper quality than the monthly or weekly.

What's the difference? Will the daily contacts melt or something if you wear them longer than 1 day?

Thanks.

Answer: There is a difference in quality. They won't melt but they will be much less comfortable. To be honest, you can probably wear a two week lens for a month. However, you tend to have problems if you wear a daily lens for more then a day.

Is it okay to switch from two-weekly contact lenses to the monthly ones without consulting an optician?

Question: I'm using EasyVision Elite Fortnightly (from Specsavers) at the moment. But I was wondering if it's okay to switch to Air Optix Aqua (monthly) or Avaira 6-pack (2-weekly) since they're the equivalents to EasyVision according to a couple of websites.

Answer: The only way you would be 100% ok is if the base curve (BC) and diameter (DIAM) are the same in whatever lens you pick as the ones you have been wearing. Really, you should get fit for the new lens with trials by an eye doc but if you keep all the numbers identical then you should be okay.

What is the practical difference between daily versus weekly wear contact lenses?

Question: I've only worn Acuvue Advance/Oasys bi-weekly disposables, but I'm interested in the difference between those and the daily wear version. I'd imagine with good maintenance you could stretch out the daily version for a couple more days and save money that way. What exactly is the difference?

Answer: The daily lenses in general are a cheaper/thinner material and won't last 3 days.

They work out to be a lot more expensive over a year than the bi-weekly or monthly lenses.

The idea of the daily lenses are that you don't need to buy solution to clean and store them , you just throw them away at the end of the day.

Bi-weekly, even with the cost of solutions are more cost effective.

Bi-weekly contact lenses can I use them after 2 weeks?

Question: Hi, I have bi-weekly contact lenses. The problem is I've opened them and used them once, then I stored them in my solution and left them at home. I went to school and two weeks later I'm back home. I'm wondering if I can still use them since I've only used them once..

So I guess the question is the whether bi-weekly means the amount of usage or does it mean the storage time..

Please advise!

Thanks!

Answer: Bi weekly or two weekly contact lenses are designed to last two weeks from the day you opened them
